Principal's Message

Hello Central Families,

We are excited to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! I am honored to be part of such a wonderful school community. I would like to introduce myself, Amber Mitchell, Central Elementary Principal. I am originally from Grand Ledge and currently live in Lowell with my husband Ryan, son Dominick (7) and daughter Alessondra (6). We stay busy in the summer with swimming, camping, reading at the library in Lowell, and attending the Showboat Summer Concert Series. My true passions are family and education. I earned my M.Ed. in Reading from Florida International University and my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University.

I have experience working with students at the middle and high school levels but it’s been my dream to return to elementary. This opportunity at Central is a gift. My first love was teaching 4th grade in Miami, Florida and I am grateful to work with the young ones here in Hastings. Our goal in education is to make a positive impact on the lives we touch! 

I am excited to grow with you and make new memories this year! We have a “Showtime” PBIS theme and a  calendar packed full of exciting activities. We look forward to a fall and spring parent picnic, field trips, reward days, and will continue to recognize those students being respectful, responsible, and safe here at Central!
