Attendance
Be on Time!
Please make sure your child is at school on time! Doors open for students at 7:40 AM and instruction begins at 7:50 AM. Parents should remember when dropping their children off to allow enough time for backpacks and winter gear to be put away in lockers.
Morning Routine
If your child arrives after 7:49 AM, you will need to bring him/her inside through the main entrance door to be signed in. Students coming in late must report to the office before going to their classrooms. Teachers have already marked students absent at 7:50 AM. If students arrive in the classroom after attendance is taken, the office will not know. Parents may receive an unnecessary phone call stating their child is not in school, when in fact they are! To avoid this problem, please make sure your child is at school between 7:40-7:45 AM each morning.
Parking
There is a parent drop-off and pick-up area located off Church Street. Parents may stay in their cars and drop students off by the open gates near the Central playground or park in the parking lot to walk with their students to their line. There is NO PARKING in front of Central Elementary, this area is strictly reserved for bus traffic only!
End of Day Communication
Students are dismissed at 2:55 PM. Students leaving school before 2:40 PM will receive an afternoon absence. It is disruptive to the classrooms when students are picked up a few minutes early, as important instructions and announcements are being made. All messages for students should be called into the office no later than 2:40 PM. We thank you for your cooperation! If alternative transportation arrangements are made for the end of the day, please notify the office or send a note with your child. For the safety of our students, we must be made aware of such plans. Your child will not be able to go home with anyone who is not on the emergency contact form unless prior notification has been given.
Please Report Student Attendance
Please report your child’s absence to the Central Elementary office at (269) 948-4423 anytime your child will not be at school. Students arriving late should also be reported to the office. Your cooperation with this is very much appreciated in our efforts to maintain a safe school environment. Note: Our phone system is set up to take messages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Central Elementary office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
