We’re back! To kick off the school year, the high school student council shared encouraging messages across the district, filling sidewalks with positive chalk notes yesterday to welcome students on their first day.
Tomorrow is the first day of the 2025–26 school year! We’re excited to welcome our students back into our buildings and kick off another year of learning and growth.

The bell tower at Central Elementary came down this morning...but don’t worry, it’s not gone for good. As part of the ongoing roofing project, the tower has been carefully removed for refurbishment and will be reinstalled once the work is complete. A temporary farewell to a familiar landmark!

It’s no secret that crews have been hard at work this summer replacing the roof on our school, but have you noticed the exciting updates to our playground area? The pavilion has been moved and now sits on a brand-new concrete pad, and the basketball court is getting the same treatment, complete with a fresh layer of asphalt.
That big open space you see right now won’t be empty for long. A new piece of playground equipment is on the way to make playtime even more fun. Things are really coming together!

It's back-to-school for our office personnel. All school offices are now open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and available to assist you.

Big improvements are underway at Central! Complete bathroom renovations and a brand-new roof are currently in progress, and we’re excited to see how things are shaping up. Additionally, upgrades to the playground area are on the horizon, bringing even more fun and functionality to our outdoor space.
We can’t wait for you to see all the great changes coming to our building!
Some hallways at Hastings Middle School were buzzing yesterday — literally!
A few of the students attending Elementary Coding Camp spent the morning flying drones through the halls while others dove deeper into learning the basics of coding. A great mix of hands-on fun and future-ready skills!
Some elementary ELL students are diving into a two-week food camp at the CERC! 🍽️📚 They're not only exploring the kitchen and creating delicious food but also reading stories connected to the foods they prepare, blending literacy with hands-on learning in a flavorful way! 👩🍳
Tears, jubilation, hugs…even some silly string and popsicles. Students throughout the district celebrated their last day of school in all kinds of ways.

Food just tastes a little better when it's enjoyed outside, picnic-style, and Central Elementary students seemed to agree as they welcomed their parents and special friends for the Spring Picnic this afternoon. Families shared a meal under the sun. Students also had the opportunity to choose a free book to take home and enjoy over the summer.
Today, we hope that everyone has the opportunity to pause, remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

The rain wasn’t enough to wash out Field Day yesterday. We moved the action inside and still had a great time.
Our awesome fifth graders just took home their own copies of the annual “My Future Me” book, hot off the press from J-Ad Graphics.
This special keepsake is packed with letters from students in schools across the county, written to their future selves. Inside holds big dreams, bold advice, and some heartwarming and hilarious predictions.
Our district is excited to launch a mobile app designed to keep students, parents, and community members informed and connected right from their phones. Since most families rely on mobile devices as their primary source of communication, we partnered with a developer to create a custom app just for Hastings.
With the Hastings Area School System app, you can read the latest announcements, access staff contact information, view upcoming events and find important documents and resources.
