Today, our third graders traded the classroom for the barnyard at Ag Awareness Day at the Barry County Fairgrounds! 🐄🌽
Hosted by several local organizations, this hands-on event gave students a closer look at the many parts of the agriculture industry, which is a vital part of life in Barry County. It was a day filled with learning, discovery, and lots of fun!

Today, Tech Ninjas from all four elementary buildings visited the CTE department at the high school. Students visited Engineering Design, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Construction Trades, Welding, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Marketing classes. High School students shared their expertise and students enjoyed learning about their future opportunities, trying a few new things, and making candy sushi! Big thanks to our students and staff in HHS CTE for hosting the ninjas for their culminating experiece after a year of hard work!

Congratulations to our April Young Citizenship Award recipients! Presented by the Hastings Kiwanis Club, this special honor recognizes students who consistently lead by example through kindness, integrity, and outstanding character in their daily lives.
Let’s celebrate these inspiring young leaders!

Our students put on a great show! Thanks to everyone for coming out to our spring concert last night!

Students at Central Elementary had plenty to celebrate at today’s assembly.
They were celebrating the end of March Is Reading Month and the Kids Heart Challenge along with weaving in their regularly scheduled character trait assembly.
Big winners in the Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser had the opportunity to spray silly string on staff members. It’s looking like they may have enjoyed it a little too much.

They handle the work behind the scenes, in front of the scenes and pretty much everywhere else. Yesterday was National Administrative Professionals Day, and we extended a huge thank you to our rock star staff of administrative assistants and secretaries!

From field trips to game days, our students are always on the go—and it’s all thanks to the awesome folks behind the wheel. 🚌 Today is Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and we’re sending a big thank you to our incredible drivers who keep things rolling safely and smoothly. Let’s show them some love!

Our school board will be meeting on Monday, April 21 at Hastings Middle School.

Congratulations to our Young Citizenship Award recipients for the month of April! In partnership with the Hastings Kiwanis Club, we honor students in each building for their top-notch character and service to their school. This new group of award recipients was very worthy of that honor. Great work!

Hastings Area Schools were represented well at the 2025 Michigan Art Education Association State Show in Adrian, which wrapped up over the weekend.
Held at the Hickman Gallery on the campus of Adrian College, the show featured the top 100 works from elementary and high school students across the state.
Central Elementary fifth grader Kallen and Southeastern Elementary kindergartener DJ had work displayed at the show. Kallen’s work depicted a Husky Zentangle and DJ’s piece was a penguin.
Additionally, Hastings High School senior Raine created a piece titled Star Within The Tar, which made it into the top 30 in the state. Great work, everyone!

Yesterday Southeastern Elementary student council members battled the frigid weather this morning to install some new homes for the community's winged population. These students were out on the large property near Green Street and Cook Road installing a series of bird houses. They're move-in ready!

On March 31st Star Elementary welcomed in a guest mystery reader to help cap off March Is Reading Month. It was Dr. Damico, our own superintendent. He shared a great story and peppered in some "dad jokes" (his specialty)!

March 28 was PBIS reward day for our eighth graders, and they are spending it at Craig's Cruisers. A well-earned trip for these students!

Our little learners in GSRP celebrated 100 days of school today! Here are the students at Central Elementary decked out in their '100 Days Smarter' crowns!
